OnePlus has officially pushed back against fresh online rumors claiming the brand is shutting down, offering reassurance to customers who may have been alarmed by the speculation.
The clarification came from Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, who addressed the claims directly on X. According to Liu, the recent reports circulating about OnePlus India are false, and the company will continue operating as normal. His statement is meant to calm fears sparked by a widely shared report suggesting the business was being “dismantled,” a phrase that quickly triggered uncertainty among OnePlus fans and buyers.
The rumor arrives at a time when OnePlus has been under heavier public scrutiny than usual. In recent weeks, attention has also been fueled by separate headlines involving an arrest warrant in Taiwan connected to the CEO of OnePlus China. At the same time, industry research has indicated that OnePlus experienced a notable sales decline in 2024, reportedly around 20%. While these developments have helped create a climate where shutdown rumors can spread quickly, OnePlus’ latest response makes its position clear: it’s not closing its doors.
In fact, the company has been actively reshaping its product strategy. With the OnePlus 15, which launched globally in November 2025, the brand leaned more heavily into performance as a key selling point rather than focusing primarily on camera upgrades. This also helps OnePlus stand apart from Oppo’s camera-focused flagship line, giving consumers a clearer choice depending on what features matter most. That shift in priorities reportedly also enabled OnePlus to lower the OnePlus 15’s price in its home market, a move that could help strengthen competitiveness.
Looking ahead, rumors haven’t stopped—just shifted toward future products. A recent leak suggests the next-generation OnePlus 16 could bring a major battery upgrade, which would likely appeal to users who prioritize all-day endurance and fast, reliable daily performance.
For now, OnePlus’ message is straightforward: the shutdown talk is unfounded, and the company says it remains on course, continuing business as usual while preparing the next wave of devices.
