The GPU market is currently witnessing a fascinating shake-up as NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs ascend the ranks on Amazon’s bestseller list, with the RTX 5070 leading the charge. This shift has unseated AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT, which previously held the coveted top spot.
Last week, AMD enjoyed a brief moment of triumph on Amazon US, becoming the leading GPU vendor thanks to its RX 9070 XT and 9070 models. However, their reign was short-lived. Despite commendable availability, these GPUs couldn’t meet the overwhelming demand. This gave NVIDIA an opportunity to reclaim dominance with their RTX 50 series, including the newly launched RTX 5070.
It’s worth noting that NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX 5070 just a day prior to the RX 9070 series, making for a head-to-head debut. Initially, NVIDIA struggled to maintain stock due to high demand, but within a week, the GeForce RTX 5070 took the number one bestseller spot from AMD’s RX 9070 XT. Custom editions of the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 initially appeared heavily in the top 20, but their presence has since dwindled.
Leading the pack now is the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 OC edition, although hitting the purchase button on this one might be a challenge due to limited stock. The ASUS SFF-Ready Prime GeForce RTX 5070 OC edition claims the seventh spot, adding to NVIDIA’s presence.
Moreover, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 16GB OC edition is making waves at number eight. In contrast, AMD’s RX 9070 XT cards have slipped out of the top 10, with PowerColor’s Reaper RX 9070 XT edition at eleventh place—another scarce find.
While AMD remains a strong contender with its RX 7000 series, including the RX 7600 XT, RX 7800 XT, and RX 7900 XTX, it will take time for the RX 9070 series to return to the bestseller list, especially as availability improves and prices stabilize.
NVIDIA has priced the GeForce RTX 5070 at an attractive $549, offering 12 GB of GDDR7 memory. Although it lags slightly behind the RX 9070 in flat-out performance and comes with 4 GB less VRAM, the minimal price difference makes NVIDIA a preferred choice for many, continuing the longstanding trend where NVIDIA cards maintain popularity when prices between competitors are closely matched. As this battle unfolds, consumers can expect a dynamic shift in rankings in the GPU market, driven by fluctuating availability and consumer preferences.
