Nuu Unveils Budget 5G Phone With Eye-Catching Rear Secondary Screen

Nuu B40 5G arrives in the US with a rear AMOLED display and budget-friendly price

Nuu has introduced a new low-cost 5G smartphone for the US market, and it has one standout feature that helps it look far more premium than its price suggests. The new Nuu B40 5G comes with a secondary rear screen called the Vista Display, giving users quick access to useful information without needing to wake the main display.

The Vista Display is a 1.6-inch AMOLED panel positioned beside the dual rear cameras on a raised camera island. It offers a 460 x 228 resolution and up to 500 nits of peak brightness. Unlike some decorative rear screens, this one is designed to be practical. It can show the time, date, battery charging status, call and message previews, step count, and music playback controls.

Nuu also lets users take advantage of the rear display for photography. The small screen can work as a camera viewfinder, making it easier to take selfies using the higher-resolution rear camera. It can also be used as a camera shutter, adding extra convenience for photos and videos.

On the front, the Nuu B40 5G features a large 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gaming, while peak brightness reaches 1100 nits. For an affordable 5G phone, the combination of a curved AMOLED panel and a fast refresh rate gives the device a more modern feel.

The camera setup includes a 64MP main rear camera paired with a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, video calls, and social media content, the phone includes a 16MP front-facing camera.

Powering the Nuu B40 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The storage capacity is generous for the price, though there is no support for expandable storage. That means users will need to rely on the built-in 256GB for apps, photos, videos, and downloads.

The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box. However, Nuu has not yet shared details about future Android version updates or long-term security patch support.

Battery life should be solid thanks to a 5,000mAh battery, and the phone supports 33W wired charging. Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual SIM support, making it a practical option for users who want separate personal and work numbers or need flexible carrier access.

The Nuu B40 5G is available in a Midnight Grey color option. It comes in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at $249.99 in the United States.

With its secondary AMOLED rear display, curved 120Hz main screen, 5G connectivity, large battery, and affordable price, the Nuu B40 5G could appeal to buyers looking for a stylish budget smartphone that offers something a little different from the usual entry-level Android devices.
