Nioh 3 charges onto PS5 and PC on February 6, 2026, as publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja lock in the release date and unveil a new trailer for the next chapter of their fantasy, feudal Japan action adventure series.
Set against the chaos of the Sengoku period, Nioh 3 casts you as Tokugawa Takechiyo, a future shogun drawn into a brutal power struggle by his younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu. Fueled by a dark force, Kunimatsu unleashes a legion of yokai to shatter a fragile peace and plunge the land into turmoil. Guided by his guardian spirit, Kusanagi, Takechiyo turns to a mysterious power that lets him transcend time, fighting to survive, unravel the conspiracy, and claim his destiny.
This entry expands the series’ scope more than ever, spanning multiple eras and regions with richly detailed, open-field exploration. Players will journey through locales such as Edo Castle and the Tōtōmi region from the Sengoku era—featured in the Alpha demo—as well as Kyoto, the capital during the Heian period. Each era offers distinct landscapes, new threats, and challenging encounters, including the Crucible, where mastery and mettle are put to the test.
Along the way, Takechiyo will cross paths with legendary figures from Japanese history, including Takeda Shingen, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yoritomo. Fan favorites return as well, such as Hattori Hanzo, Honda Tadakatsu, and Saito Fuku. The cast features Tao Tsuchiya as Himiko, the enigmatic queen of Yamatai-koku, and Kanata Hongo as Kunimatsu Tokugawa. A new trailer and two behind-the-scenes videos offer a first look at the game’s expanded scale, fearsome yokai, and time-spanning narrative.
Players will have several ways to jump in at launch:
– Standard Edition: Base game on PS5 and PC (via Steam).
