Publisher Playism, alongside developer Studio Snowblind, has unveiled an exciting new story trailer and fresh details for their innovative underwater action-adventure game, Glaciered. Set to make waves at this year’s Tokyo Game Show from September 26th to the 29th, the game promises to captivate both fans and newcomers with its intriguing premise and gripping gameplay.
Meet Ominous Foes in the New Story Trailer
The newly released story trailer introduces us to Gray, the protagonist who belongs to the winged species known as the Tuai. Gray is tasked with a mission that will determine the fate of their entire species. In a world transformed by the Everwinter, Gray must navigate treacherous waters and face numerous adversaries, including a mysterious enemy that emerges from the shadows.
For the first time, viewers get to hear the memorable Japanese voiceovers performed by Tatsunori Fukusato (voicing Gray) and Asuka Itou (voicing The Seeker), adding an extra layer of immersion to the narrative.
Playable Demo at Tokyo Game Show
Glaciered will not just be a visual treat at TGS 2024; it will also be hands-on with a playable demo available at the PLAYISM booth. About Glaciered
Set on Earth 65 million years in the future, Glaciered transports players to a world enveloped by ice, known as the “Everwinter.” Despite the harsh conditions, life has adapted to thrive beneath the glacier-covered seas. Here, aquatic plants and bioluminescent fish create a mesmerizing underwater landscape. Amidst this frozen splendor, the Tuai, descendants of birds and successors to dinosaurs, have evolved with superior intellect and unique metabolic capabilities, ensuring their survival and prosperity.
You play as a Tuai warrior, tasked with protecting the Everwinter from looming threats.
Dynamic Underwater Action and Your Pui Sidekick
Gray is armed with versatile wings that can slash and pierce enemies or shoot crystal feathers from a distance. Melee attacks heat up Gray’s wings, allowing for even more powerful moves. Players can also customize these wings, selecting different types with unique abilities, from unguardable attacks to those that cover wide areas. The dynamic underwater combat allows for attacks to come from any direction, keeping players on their toes.
Accompanying Gray is the Pui, a symbiotic companion who not only assists in combat but also lights up dark areas with a photophore on its forehead. By feeding the Pui various creatures found during the journey, it can learn new abilities, offering invaluable support amidst the underwater dangers.
The Seeker’s Hideout – Your Base of Operations
Your adventure revolves around the Seeker’s Hideout, which serves as your main base. Here, you can rest to replenish your Healing skill, eat food to boost your stats, and craft and enhance your wings. The hideout is also where you can nurture your Pui and claim rewards for completed quests. It’s a refuge where you can strategize and strengthen yourself before diving back into the treacherous seas.
A Future Ruled by Unique Creatures
The underwater world of Glaciered is teeming with fascinating and perilous creatures, some resembling prehistoric beings while others have evolved in extraordinary ways. The first area you will explore is the Sea of Tranquility, home to hidden dangers and creatures like the poisonous nocturnal Gish.
