Unreleased Piston V Mini PC with SteamOS-style gaming mode and built-in display shows impressive Ryzen AI performance
A mysterious new mini PC has surfaced in testing, and it may be one of the most unusual compact gaming systems we have seen so far. Known as the Piston V, this small desktop stands out not only because of its powerful AMD hardware, but also because of a round touch-sensitive display built directly into the front of the device.
The unit appears to be an unreleased or prototype system, as there is currently no confirmed information about the manufacturer or when it might launch. Even so, early testing gives us a clear look at what this compact machine can do, especially for users interested in mini PCs for gaming, media setups, and living-room PC builds.
The Piston V supports dual booting with Bazzite, a SteamOS-like gaming-focused Linux experience, alongside Windows. This gives the device flexibility for players who want a console-style interface for gaming while still having access to Windows for broader software compatibility.
The front display is one of the most eye-catching parts of the design. When booted into Bazzite, the screen shows system data such as CPU and GPU usage. It can also display the game currently running on the mini PC. However, during testing, customization options appeared to be locked, meaning it was not possible to set the screen to show more specific gaming data such as an FPS counter or performance overlay.
Inside, the Piston V is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 APU. This chip features 10 Zen 5 CPU cores with speeds up to 5.0 GHz, along with Radeon 890M integrated graphics. The processor can operate at up to 54 W, giving the mini PC more performance headroom than many lower-power compact systems.
The tested configuration also includes 32 GB of DDR5 memory and a 1 TB SSD, which should be more than enough for modern multitasking, fast game loading, and a sizable gaming library. For a mini PC without a dedicated graphics card, the specifications are quite promising.
Gaming performance is where the Piston V becomes especially interesting. The Radeon 890M integrated GPU is not meant to compete with full-size desktop graphics cards, but it is capable of handling many modern games at 1080p with the right settings.
In Spider-Man 2, the mini PC reached more than 75 FPS on average at 1080p with high settings when using FSR Frame Generation. That is a strong result for a compact system relying on integrated graphics.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart also performed well. Without FSR, the game averaged around 45 FPS, which is playable for many users. With FSR Frame Generation enabled, performance climbed into the 70 FPS range, making the experience much smoother.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a more demanding title, but the Piston V still managed to deliver playable results. At 1080p using the Steam Deck graphics profile, the system produced frame rates in the high 40s. Turning on FSR Frame Generation pushed performance close to 80 FPS, showing how useful upscaling and frame generation can be on compact gaming PCs.
Based on these early results, the Piston V looks like a strong option for light AAA gaming, indie titles, emulation, streaming, and general desktop use. It is not a replacement for a high-end gaming desktop, but for users who want a small, stylish, and capable mini PC, it could be a compelling device if it eventually reaches the market.
The built-in circular display also gives the Piston V a unique identity. If the final version allows deeper customization, such as showing FPS, temperatures, fan speeds, music controls, or animated widgets, it could become more than just a design gimmick. It could be a genuinely useful feature for gamers and PC enthusiasts.
For now, the Piston V remains a mystery. There is no confirmed release date, price, or official manufacturer information. Still, with its Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, Radeon 890M graphics, dual-boot software setup, and unusual front display, this unreleased mini PC is already generating attention.
If it launches with polished software, flexible display controls, and competitive pricing, the Piston V could become one of the most interesting compact gaming PCs to watch.
