Motorola Pushes Android 16 to Razr (2025) and Razr Ultra (2025) While Razr+ (2025) Still Waits

Motorola is starting to roll out Android 16 for two of its 2025 foldable phones in the United States: the Motorola Razr 2025 and the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. The update is currently appearing through carrier deployments, with Verizon and T-Mobile users reporting availability. Notably, there’s still no clear indication that the Razr+ 2025 is receiving the same Android 16 update yet.

This rollout arrives as both foldables approach their first anniversary. Launched in April 2025 with Android 15 preinstalled, these devices are only now receiving the first of the three promised operating system upgrades. With Android 16 now landing, that leaves Android 17 and Android 18 still to come as part of Motorola’s software update policy. On top of the OS upgrades, both models are also slated to receive four years of security updates, which is an important consideration for anyone planning to keep a foldable long-term.

Interestingly, the European variants of these phones—sold as the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra—reportedly received Android 16 a couple of months earlier, making the US rollout feel a bit late by comparison.

For users who are getting the update now, early details suggest it’s a sizable download at around 4GB. The included changelog points to a security patch level update to December 2025, along with a design change and improved compatibility with Bluetooth LE Audio devices. While the exact visual tweaks may vary by model and carrier, these kinds of refinements are typical of major Android version upgrades, especially when manufacturers adjust the interface and system behavior for foldable screens.

As with most major Android updates, the Android 16 rollout is expected to happen in phases. That means some owners may see it immediately, while others may need to wait days or weeks depending on carrier schedules and regional distribution.

If you want to check whether Android 16 is ready for your Razr 2025 or Razr Ultra 2025, go to Settings, then About phone, then System updates. If the update is available, follow the prompts to download and install it.

For now, the biggest unanswered question is why the Razr+ 2025 isn’t being mentioned alongside the other models. Until more details emerge, Razr+ owners may need to keep checking for availability or watch for a separate carrier push.
