The Motorola Moto G56 takes the successful formula of the Moto G55 and enhances it, offering an enticing mix of affordability and upgraded features. Priced at €250, this mid-range phone maintains its budget-friendly appeal while packing in more impressive capabilities than its predecessor.
The Moto G56 has grown slightly, sporting a 6.72-inch display compared to the Moto G55’s 6.49-inch screen, and is a bit heavier at 200 grams. Despite these changes, its design and craftsmanship remain top-notch, complemented by a soft-touch synthetic leather back that provides a premium feel and a secure grip.
Durability has seen a significant upgrade. The Moto G56 steps up from the Moto G55’s IP54 rating and Gorilla Glass 3 to boast IP68 and IP69 certifications. This means it can handle submersion in shallow water and features the tougher Gorilla Glass 7i.
The phone also advances in operating system and battery life. Launching with Android 15, the Moto G56 promises the same update commitment as its predecessor—four years of security updates and two OS upgrades, ending with Android 17. Its battery capacity has increased to 5200 mAh from 5000 mAh, providing longer usage time; it clocked in at 18 hours and 30 minutes in Wi-Fi tests compared to the Moto G55’s 15 hours and 44 minutes. However, charging remains at 30 watts, and wireless charging is still not available.
Performance and features reveal only minor differences. The front camera’s resolution has doubled to 32 MP, and storage expansion supports up to 2 TB via microSD, compared to 1 TB in the Moto G55. It integrates the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC, offering a slight upgrade, although real-world performance is almost indistinguishable from the Dimensity 7025 in the Moto G55.
Connectivity remains consistent with WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and eSIM support, alongside 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. These features ensure the Moto G56 is a well-rounded option for those seeking a reliable and affordable smartphone.
