Li Auto Chip Subsidiary Mahe Xin Technology Secures $243 Million in First-Round Financing
Li Auto is accelerating its push into smart electric vehicle technology as its chip and domain controller subsidiary, Mahe Xin Technology, has secured CNY 1.625 billion in first-round equity financing, equal to about US$243.33 million.
The funding marks an important step for Li Auto as it expands beyond vehicle manufacturing and strengthens its position in automotive semiconductors, intelligent driving systems, and in-house vehicle control technologies. Mahe Xin Technology focuses on key components that support the next generation of smart EVs, including chips and domain controllers, which are essential for managing advanced vehicle functions such as driver assistance, infotainment, connectivity, and overall vehicle computing.
This investment comes shortly after Li Auto began opening its internally developed technologies to external customers. The move signals a broader strategy: instead of keeping its technology ecosystem limited to its own electric vehicles, Li Auto appears ready to turn some of its core innovations into commercial products for the wider automotive industry.
The decision reflects a growing trend among Chinese electric vehicle companies. As competition in the EV market becomes increasingly intense, automakers are looking for new ways to generate revenue, reduce costs, and improve technological independence. Developing proprietary chips and domain controllers can help companies gain better control over performance, supply chains, and software integration.
For Li Auto, the financing could help Mahe Xin Technology speed up research and development, expand production capabilities, and attract more industry partners. Automotive chips have become a strategic priority as electric vehicles rely more heavily on advanced computing power, smart cockpit features, autonomous driving functions, and energy management systems.
The successful fundraising also highlights investor confidence in China’s fast-growing smart EV supply chain. As vehicles become more software-defined, companies with strong capabilities in chips, controllers, and integrated vehicle platforms are expected to play a larger role in the future of mobility.
Mahe Xin Technology’s new funding round positions it as a key part of Li Auto’s long-term technology roadmap. By building and commercializing its own core components, Li Auto is not only strengthening its electric vehicle business but also preparing to compete in the broader intelligent automotive technology market.
