LG Gram Max 17 Drops $300: Panther Lake Power Meets 32GB RAM in a Sleek 17-Inch Laptop

LG’s lightweight 17-inch laptop just got a big price drop. The LG Gram Max 17 (model 17Z90UB), a newer addition to the Gram lineup, is already selling for $1,299.99 at major retailers and LG’s own online store—roughly a month after its release. It comes in a sleek Matte Bronze finish and targets buyers who want a large screen without the bulky weight that usually comes with it.

At the center of the experience is a 17-inch IPS touchscreen with a sharp 2,560 × 1,600 resolution. The display is rated for up to 350 nits of brightness and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space, making it a strong fit for everyday productivity, web browsing, schoolwork, and color-aware creative tasks. That said, for shoppers specifically looking for punchy HDR visuals or true inky blacks for movies, an OLED option—or at least a brighter panel—would have been more competitive at this price.

Performance is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7 355, a Panther Lake processor configured with four performance cores, four low-power efficiency cores, and Intel Xe3 graphics with four graphics cores. LG pairs that chip with 32 GB of fast LPDDR5X-7500 memory and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Storage flexibility is a plus here, too: the SSD sits in one of two available M.2 slots, leaving room for a future upgrade if you want to add more space later.

Connectivity is another highlight for anyone building a modern desk setup or juggling accessories. The Gram Max 17 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting up to 40 Gbps data transfer, DisplayPort output, and Power Delivery. You also get two USB-A ports (5 Gbps), HDMI for easy monitor or TV connections, and a 3.5 mm headphone/mic combo jack. For wireless, an Intel BE211 card brings next-generation Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 support, which can help with faster, more stable connections on compatible networks and peripherals.

Despite the large display, the laptop stays true to the Gram name with a slim, travel-friendly design. It measures 14.9 × 10.4 × 0.57 inches (378 × 264 × 14.5 mm) and weighs about 3.39 lbs (1.54 kg), which is impressively light for a 17-inch machine. Powering it is a 77 Wh battery, with charging support up to 65 W—useful for topping up quickly with a compatible USB-C charger.

Because the LG Gram Max 17 is still very new, there aren’t user reviews available yet. On paper, though, the spec sheet is built for people who want a big, high-resolution touchscreen, plenty of RAM, modern ports (including dual Thunderbolt 4), and cutting-edge wireless connectivity in a laptop that’s easy to carry. The main trade-off is the display tech: IPS with modest peak brightness, rather than OLED or a brighter panel aimed at HDR-focused viewing.
