Lexar is pushing DDR5 memory speeds higher with a new generation of RAM kits built around CXMT chips, signaling a major step forward for China-made DDR5 DRAM. The company’s latest modules reportedly reach up to DDR5-7600 with CL38 timings, moving well beyond the earlier 6000 MT/s ceiling that had been associated with many CXMT-based memory products.
The new Lexar DDR5 kits use memory chips from ChangXin Memory Technologies, better known as CXMT. Until recently, CXMT DDR5 modules were mostly seen in mainstream-speed memory kits, while high-frequency enthusiast RAM was typically dominated by Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron chips. That appears to be changing quickly as newer CXMT chips begin to show stronger overclocking potential and improved stability at higher transfer rates.
Lexar is expected to release the new modules under its THOR RGB DDR5 lineup, likely as part of the THOR II series. Two variants are reportedly planned: DDR5-7600 CL38 and DDR5-7200 CL38. Both options are aimed at users who want faster memory performance for gaming PCs, content creation systems, and high-end desktop builds.
The DDR5-7600 CL38 version is said to operate at 1.4V, based on validation data shown through CPU-Z. That places the kit firmly in enthusiast territory, especially for users looking to pair fast DDR5 memory with modern Intel or AMD platforms. Higher-speed DDR5 can help improve bandwidth-sensitive workloads and may also offer smoother performance in certain games, depending on the processor, motherboard, and memory tuning.
The kits are expected to arrive in a 32GB dual-channel configuration, using two 16GB DDR5 modules. This remains one of the most popular memory capacities for gaming and performance PCs, offering a strong balance between speed, capacity, and cost. For many users, 32GB is enough for modern gaming, multitasking, streaming, and creative applications without moving into more expensive 64GB configurations.
This launch is especially notable because it shows how quickly CXMT’s DDR5 technology is improving. The jump from 6000 MT/s to 7200 MT/s and 7600 MT/s suggests that CXMT is becoming more competitive in the high-performance memory market. Recent demonstrations have also shown CXMT-based DDR5 reaching even higher speeds on AMD platforms, further highlighting the progress being made.
For PC builders, Lexar’s upcoming DDR5-7600 memory kits could become an interesting option if pricing is competitive. Fast DDR5 memory kits are often priced at a premium, but broader chip availability from more manufacturers may help increase competition and give buyers more choices.
