Leica Unveils Fresh Limited Editions for the M11-P, Q3, and D-Lux 8

Leica is reportedly preparing a fresh “Steel Grey” Limited Edition look for some of its most talked-about cameras, giving fans of classic design another premium option to consider. The new finish is expected to extend beyond Leica’s rangefinders and into its current compact lineup as well, bringing a sleek, understated grey style that has long been part of the brand’s identity.

Two of Leica’s current compact cameras are also expected to be offered in “Steel Grey.” One is the Leica Q3, a full-frame compact known for delivering high-end image quality in a relatively streamlined body. The standard Leica Q3 is commonly listed at around $7,350, making it a top-tier choice for photographers who want full-frame performance in a compact form factor.

The second model tipped for the Steel Grey treatment is the Leica D-Lux 8. This compact camera pairs a Micro Four Thirds sensor with a built-in zoom lens designed for flexibility, covering a 35mm equivalent focal length range of approximately 24–75mm. That makes it a practical option for everyday photography, travel shooting, and anyone who wants a smaller camera with an adaptable zoom range.

For longtime Leica followers, a grey finish isn’t just a new colorway—it’s a tradition. Leica has released multiple grey-toned versions in the past, including the M10-P, M9, and M-E. The roots of this design direction trace back decades, to the grey-painted Leica M2 that helped start the trend in 1960. A modern “Steel Grey” edition fits neatly into that history, combining vintage-inspired styling with contemporary hardware.

So far, Leica hasn’t confirmed an exact launch date or pricing for the Steel Grey Limited Edition models. If these editions follow the brand’s usual playbook, demand could be strong—especially among collectors and photographers who want something distinctive without sacrificing the signature Leica look and feel.
