Samsung has recently launched a significant update for its standard Clock application across a wide range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The move comes in the wake of the new Galaxy S24 series release, which debuted the latest One UI 6.1 with fresh features and customizable options within the Clock app. Now Samsung is extending these exciting changes to its older models, bringing a more uniform experience across its ecosystem.
New Capabilities: Personalized Alarm Settings and User-Friendly Additions
One of the standout features from the update is the ability for users to set personalized backgrounds for their alarms. Individuals can now wake up to an image of their choosing or opt for one of the preset selections provided. To tailor your alarm’s background and clock layout, simply access the alarm’s settings where options are readily adjustable.
Beyond aesthetics, the update introduces the ability to control the vibration intensity for each individual alarm, a feature previously exclusive to regulating alarm volume. Adding to its worldliness, the World Clock tab also showcases the sunrise and sunset times per country, making it simple for users to stay in tune with daylight changes around the globe. However, to utilize this feature, users must first enable the ‘Show weather’ setting within the app.
For those who take advantage of Samsung’s Modes and Routines, the Clock update offers functionality to designate specific alarms as triggers for certain routines. This integration provides a more cohesive and automated user experience. Additionally, the update has downsized the timer pop-up window, which appears when a timer is initiated, for a cleaner and less-obstructive interface.
Widespread Availability Across Android and One UI Versions
While most new Clock app features, such as the aforementioned personalization options, are available on devices with Android 14 and One UI 6.0, it’s expected that some gadgets will receive these enhancements with the incoming One UI 6.1 updates in the forthcoming weeks. The exception here is the vibration intensity adjustment for alarms, which might roll out selectively.
Users can update their Samsung Clock app by heading to the ‘Updates’ section within the Galaxy Store on their device.
With these updates, Samsung continues to unify its user interface and feature set across different generations of devices, ensuring that even older models receive a taste of the latest software improvements.
