Apple seems to be quietly setting the stage for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, but a major redesign might not be on the agenda. Recently, the fifth developer beta of iOS 26 hinted at a new display resolution of 422 x 514 pixels, which doesn’t align with any existing Apple Watch models. The current Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a resolution of 410 x 502 pixels, suggesting the Ultra 3 could feature a slightly larger screen slated for release later this year.
Anticipations are high that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will sport a larger display, achieved by trimming down the bezel rather than expanding the chassis. This means you could enjoy around 5 percent more screen real estate without the watch becoming bulkier. Such a design tweak offers a brushed-up visual experience, perfectly suited for checking messages, navigating maps, or interacting with glance-style apps.
While there’s no word yet on whether the standard Apple Watch Series 11 will receive similar updates, it’s unlikely following recent redesigns. The Ultra series, known for its rugged design, might benefit from reduced bezels and an expanded display for a more immersive experience.
Besides the rumored resolution upgrade, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to come with noteworthy enhancements. These may include satellite messaging support independent of cellular or Wi-Fi, a cutting-edge wide-angle LTPO3 display akin to the Apple Watch Series 10, built-in 5G RedCap cellular support, and new capabilities like blood pressure detection. Additionally, the new S10 or S11 chips are anticipated to boost performance and efficiency.
The latest reports indicate that the company plans to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, coinciding with the launch of the new Apple Watch models. This aligns with Apple’s tradition of introducing exciting new features, keeping the tech world eagerly awaiting what’s next.
