Introducing the Vivo V50: Triple 50MP Cameras, 6,000mAh Battery, and Rugged IP68/69 Resilience

The Vivo V50 has officially made its debut as a cutting-edge Android smartphone in partnership with Zeiss, targeting the global market. This latest release from Vivo boasts an impressive AMOLED display with a dazzling peak brightness of 4,500 nits, setting new standards in battery life and charging efficiency. As it prepares for its full release later in February 2025, the phone comes with introductory discounts starting from approximately $460.

Initially anticipated to be a mirror version of the S20 intended for the Chinese audience, the V50 has proven itself as more than just a replica, with nuanced enhancements tailored for markets like India. Sporting a distinctive Aura Light dual rear camera setup, the V50 excels in both wide and ultrawide angle photography, although it omits the periscope zoom lens featured in the S20 Pro. Interestingly, all of its cameras, including the selfie shooter, are equipped with 50MP sensors. The primary camera also offers optical image stabilization (OIS) and autofocus, making it perfect for Zeiss-branded modes such as Multifocal Portrait, Wedding Portrait Studio, and Live Photo.

With an expansive 6.77-inch micro-curved display, the V50 surpasses both the S20 and S20 Pro in size, offering a Full HD+ resolution and maintaining a smooth experience with its 120Hz refresh rate and robust 1,300-nit HBM brightness. Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, the device is engineered for performance.

Battery-wise, the V50 is equipped with a smaller 6,000mAh capacity but supports rapid 90W wired charging and doubles as a power bank. Notably, its IP68/69 ingress protection rating surpasses that of the S20 Pro, making it highly resistant to dust and water.

Running on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, Vivo promises the V50 stays optimal for heavy usage over five years, though no specific update schedule has been provided for this series. Unlike previous models, no direct successor for the V40 Pro accompanies this launch, positioning the V50 as a standalone flagship offering.

Pricing starts at a competitive INR 34,999 (approximately $403) for the base model featuring 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone offers upgrades that include 256GB storage for INR 36,999 (about $426) and a top-tier configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage at INR 40,999 (around $472).

Available in striking Rose Red and Titanium Gray colors, the V50 can be pre-ordered directly from Vivo. An additional Starry Night blue version will be accessible via Amazon starting February 25, 2025. With these attractive features and stylish design, the Vivo V50 seems set to leave a significant mark on the smartphone market.
