Introducing the Mangmi Air X: Affordable Gaming Handheld Featuring Hall Effect Triggers and Joysticks

Mangmi has introduced the Air X, a budget-friendly gaming handheld that runs on Android. Equipped with the Snapdragon 662, it’s not the powerhouse some might hope for, but the Adreno 610 GPU can manage retro emulation and less demanding games. What makes the Air X stand out is its affordability compared to higher-priced options like the Anberic RG557.

Despite its low price, the Mangmi Air X boasts several premium features. It includes Hall effect triggers and joysticks, along with a 6-axis gyroscope, aiming to enhance the gaming experience. The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1080p resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. The screen is claimed to cover 110% of the sRGB color space, with a brightness up to 450 nits.

An additional selling point is its 5,000 mAh battery, capable of 15 W charging. Mangmi emphasizes the ergonomic design of the chassis, complemented by retro color options, giving it a more upscale appearance than other budget models. Other features include 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 64 GB of eMMC storage, WiFi 5, an active cooling system, and a lightweight design.

Launched in China with a starting price of CNY 499 (approximately $70), there’s no information yet about a global release. As a newcomer to the gaming handheld market, Mangmi is making a splash with the Air X’s appealing combination of price and features.
