Introducing the GAMEBABY: A Controller-Case Hybrid Now Available for Pre-Order

Bitmolabs has just launched pre-orders for their innovative new iPhone accessory: a hybrid case and controller known as the GAMEBABY. Designed for the iPhone Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max, this unique case offers a whole new way to enjoy mobile gaming.

What’s fascinating about the GAMEBABY case is its built-in physical buttons, which can be utilized by removing the lower half of the case and flipping it around the phone. This ingenious design transforms the iPhone into a retro gaming console, complete with multiple button layouts to mimic classic systems like the Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and NES. Bitmolabs has also pointed out that the GAMEBABY is engineered to integrate smoothly with the popular Delta emulator.

Even more intriguing is how the GAMEBABY operates. It doesn’t require Bluetooth or external power, instead using the iPhone’s touchscreen to register inputs. When you’re not gaming, simply flip the lower half back, and the case returns to its standard protective function. The real question that remains is whether the tactile buttons will indeed offer a superior gaming experience on the iPhone screen.

For early adopters, Bitmolabs is offering a special price of $19.99 for the first 1,000 units. After this initial batch, the price will rise to $25.00. Note that the GAMEBABY is still in active development, so some aspects of the final design might change. Bitmolabs hasn’t disclosed an official release date yet, but they’re aiming for a shipping timeframe in November 2024.
