Introducing MicroPC 2: GPD’s Sleek New Compact Laptop at an Exclusive Early Bird Price

GPD has just launched the MicroPC 2 globally, following its recent debut in China. This mini laptop is now available for purchase through Indiegogo, where early adopters can snag it at an 18% discount. The MicroPC 2 is a compact powerhouse, featuring a 7-inch IPS display, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, an M.2 2280 SSD, a 27.5 Wh battery, and an Intel Processor N250, all packed into a device weighing under 500 grams.

This release comes six years after its predecessor, offering significant upgrades across the board, although it doesn’t quite match the power of the larger Pocket 4. The original MicroPC had a few distinct features, such as an RS-232 connection and a slightly more compact design, but the MicroPC 2 outshines it in most areas.

The MicroPC 2 boasts plenty of connectivity options, with most ports located at the rear except for a single USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port. The device includes:

– 3.5 mm headphone jack
– HDMI 2.1 port
– MicroSD card reader
– RJ45 Ethernet port
– Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
– USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port

Under the hood, the device is powered by Intel’s N250 Processor from the Twin Lake family, offering enhanced performance with its 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 RAM and a fast M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD slot. The 7-inch IPS display provides stunning visuals with a 500 nits peak brightness and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, all encased in a sleek design measuring 171.2 x 110.8 x 23.5 mm.

The MicroPC 2 is currently available for $495 with 512 GB of storage through Indiegogo. GPD plans to eventually sell it for $607, though the timeline for this pricing shift is still uncertain. The company aims to start shipping to backers by September 2025.
