Insta360 is preparing to expand its compact gimbal camera lineup with the official launch of the Insta360 Luna Pro. The new camera is scheduled to debut in China on August 20, 2026, at 8:00 PM local time, with reservations already open through the company’s official channels.
The Luna Pro follows the global release of the Insta360 Luna Ultra, which arrived on June 10, 2026. While the Luna Ultra stands out with a dual-camera setup that includes a 1-inch main sensor and a 1/1.3-inch telephoto sensor capable of up to 6x lossless zoom, the upcoming Luna Pro takes a different approach. Instead of using two cameras, it will feature a single-camera system designed around a large 1-inch sensor.
Insta360 has also released a short unboxing video for the Luna Pro, giving users an early look at the device before its official launch. The video shows the camera in a clean white color option and reveals one of its most interesting accessories: a detachable remote display. This could make the Luna Pro especially appealing to vloggers, solo creators, travelers, and anyone who needs flexible framing while filming on the move.
The retail packaging confirms several major details about the new device. The Insta360 Luna Pro is described as an “8K Gimbal Camera With 1” Sensor,” indicating that high-resolution video capture will be one of its headline features. The box also confirms Leica co-branding, suggesting that the camera may benefit from Leica’s imaging expertise in areas such as color tuning, optics, or overall image processing.
With 8K video support, a 1-inch sensor, built-in stabilization, and a detachable remote screen, the Insta360 Luna Pro appears to be aimed at creators who want a portable yet powerful camera for professional-looking footage. Its pocket-friendly gimbal design could make it a strong option for content creators who need smooth video without carrying a larger camera setup.
For now, Insta360 has only confirmed the China launch date. Details about international pricing, release timing, and global availability have not yet been announced. More information is expected when the Luna Pro officially launches on August 20.
