IKEA launches new cheaper TRÅDFRI Smart LED Bulb for colored lighting

IKEA has introduced an updated version of its TRÅDFRI Smart LED Bulb, offering enhanced energy efficiency and a more wallet-friendly price point. The new TRÅDFRI LED bulb GU10 maintains the design and features of its predecessor but boasts an improved energy efficiency rating, upgrading from an F to an E band. This means that consumers can enjoy a slightly reduced power consumption of 3.6W while the bulb is on, accounting for 4kWh/1000h, and an even lower energy usage of 0.2W when the bulb is on standby.

In comparison to the older model, which had a higher power requirement of 4.6W and standby usage of 0.3W, the newer model remains environmentally and budget-conscious without compromising performance. Both bulbs offer the same peak brightness of 345 lumens and a versatile color temperature range of 2700 to 4000K. This provides users with the option to switch between white light and various colored lighting options, including Pink, Light purple, and Light blue, to customize their spaces for different moods or activities.

The updated TRÅDFRI bulb also boasts a long life span of up to 25,000 hours, ensuring users benefit from an extensive period before needing replacement. It’s easily controllable with a remote or through the IKEA Home smart app, which requires a connection to the DIRIGERA hub. This smart integration enables users to link up and manage multiple compatible smart lighting devices simultaneously, adding convenience and creating cohesive lighting scenes throughout their homes.

Affordably priced at €11.99/£8/129 kr, the new TRÅDFRI LED bulb GU10 is more accessible than its older counterpart, previously available at €14.99/£10/179 kr, and comes at a fraction of the cost of some premium alternatives, such as the Philips Hue White and Colour Ambiance Smart GU10 LED Bulb, which is priced significantly higher. IKEA’s new offering, thus, presents a cost-effective solution for those looking to enter the realm of smart home lighting or expand their existing system without compromising on quality and functionality.
