IKEA App Update Brings Wider Matter Support and Thread 1.4 to More Homes

IKEA Home Smart app update brings full Matter support and Thread 1.4 to more users

IKEA is rolling out a major upgrade to its smart home ecosystem. In the first half of November 2025, the IKEA Home Smart app received versions 1.57.0 and 1.57.1 on iOS and Android, unlocking broader compatibility, improved reliability, and easier setup for the Dirigera Hub.

The headline change is full Matter support for all users with a Dirigera Hub. Previously available in beta, the hub can now act as a Matter controller for everyone, letting you connect and manage a wider range of third-party smart home devices from one place. This means greater interoperability across brands and a simpler, more unified smart home experience.

Thread 1.4 is also arriving with this update. The new Thread capabilities let you either create a shared Thread network or join an existing one—something that wasn’t possible before. Joining an established Thread network can strengthen your mesh, reduce dead zones, and boost overall stability for Thread-enabled devices throughout the home. Within the IKEA Home Smart app’s settings, you can check which Thread network your Dirigera Hub is using and switch if needed.

This November release builds on an end-of-October update that brought Matter 1.3 to the Dirigera Hub, adding support for third-party water leak sensors and energy-monitoring smart plugs. The hub has also been certified for Matter 1.4 by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, though the timing of that software update reaching users has not yet been shared.

Looking ahead, IKEA has announced an expanded lineup of Matter-compatible products—smart light bulbs, sensors, smart plugs, and remote controls—planned for early 2026. With the latest app updates and Thread enhancements, the ecosystem is clearly moving toward easier setup, better reliability, and broader device compatibility.

To get these features, update to the latest IKEA Home Smart app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and ensure your Dirigera Hub firmware is current.
