Honor’s VP Hints at Exciting Tablet Line Revamp

The Honor Pad GT2 Pro has recently joined Honor’s extensive lineup of tablets. An intriguing revelation from a top executive hints at a potential shift in strategy, suggesting that Honor might streamline its diverse tablet offerings. Currently, Honor features five series: the digital (number) series, the X series, the V series, the GT series, and the MagicPad series. However, this could change as the company considers simplifying its range.

In a recent Weibo post, Lin Lin, Honor China’s Vice President, shared thoughts on possibly consolidating these lines. The post was a response to a discussion about the extensive lineup, comparing the differences among models. Within this year alone, Honor introduced five new tablets, including the Honor Pad GT2 Pro. Rumors also suggest development of a compact tablet designed to compete with contenders like the Redmi K Pad and RedMagic Astra.

Presently, there’s no confirmation of new releases for the V series in 2025, leaving room for speculation on further expansions. Notably, the Honor Pad X9, which hit the European market, is identical to the Honor X8 Pro available in China.

A separate discussion highlighted suggestions from users on Weibo about which series could be merged or discontinued. There is a notion to maintain the MagicPad and GT lines, merging the rest into a single mid-range offering. The idea is to tailor the MagicPad for business and enterprise users while the GT line targets performance enthusiasts. The proposed mid-range series would appeal to consumers seeking affordable leisure tablets. Despite these suggestions, Lin Lin expressed dissatisfaction, noting a lack of understanding of target customers’ needs.

While a more streamlined lineup could simplify choices for consumers, it might also be beneficial for Honor to adopt a more predictable release cycle and a clearer naming strategy. A case in point is the Honor Pad series, where the Honor Pad X8 Pro launched in China and appeared as the Honor Pad X9 in Europe and India without any changes.
