Halo Finally Lands on PlayStation: Campaign Evolved Marks the Series Debut

Halo is finally breaking free from its long-standing PC and Xbox exclusivity. The iconic shooter is making its native debut on PlayStation with Halo: Campaign Evolved, a modern remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, arriving on PS5, Xbox, and PC sometime next year.

Revealed with a new trailer, Halo: Campaign Evolved reimagines the 2001 classic with current-gen ambition. Expect overhauled visuals featuring 4K textures, fresh single-player content including prequel missions, and nine brand-new weapons that expand the sandbox while preserving the spirit of the original. Rather than using the series’ legacy engine, this remake is being built on Unreal Engine 5, positioning it for cutting-edge lighting, effects, and performance across platforms.

Multiplayer is part of the package at launch, with full cross-platform support so friends can squad up regardless of where they play. Local two-player couch co-op returns for living-room sessions, and up to four players can tackle the campaign together online. Competitive PVP has not been confirmed yet, leaving one of the series’ most beloved pillars as the big question mark.

For longtime fans, Halo: Campaign Evolved promises a faithful but forward-looking take on the game that started it all. For newcomers—especially on PlayStation—it’s the perfect entry point: an origin story rebuilt with modern gameplay, visuals, and social features. Keep an eye out for a firm release date as launch approaches next year.
