Google Pixel Watch 5 leak reveals Gemini AI features, familiar battery life, and upgraded storage
Google’s next smartwatch is starting to take shape ahead of its expected launch, with newly surfaced promotional images revealing key details about the Pixel Watch 5. While the design and core experience appear to stay close to the previous generation, Google seems ready to place a major focus on artificial intelligence, improved memory, and the familiar premium health-tracking package.
According to the leaked promo material, battery life will remain the same as before. The smaller 41 mm Pixel Watch 5 is expected to deliver up to 30 hours of use on a single charge, while the larger 45 mm model should offer up to 40 hours. That means users hoping for a major battery upgrade may not see a big leap this year, though the larger model will still be the better choice for anyone who prioritizes longer usage between charges.
The biggest marketing push for the Pixel Watch 5 appears to be Gemini AI. Google is expected to highlight smarter assistant features designed to make the watch more useful throughout the day, from quick voice interactions to more context-aware support. However, many of these Gemini-powered tools may not be exclusive to the new model, as the Pixel Watch 4 is also expected to receive several of them through the Wear OS 7 update.
Under the hood, both the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5 are expected to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform. Even so, the newer watch may still offer a performance advantage thanks to upgraded memory and storage. The Pixel Watch 5 is reportedly set to feature 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, which could help with smoother multitasking, faster app performance, and more room for offline music, apps, and watch data.
Google is also expected to continue using a bright 3,000-nit LTPO AMOLED display. This should make the Pixel Watch 5 easy to read outdoors, even in direct sunlight, while LTPO technology can help manage refresh rates more efficiently to support better power handling.
The health and fitness features are also expected to remain comprehensive. The Pixel Watch 5 will reportedly include a heart rate sensor, SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring, a skin temperature sensor, ECG support, and a cEDA sensor for stress-related measurements. These features position the watch as a strong option for users who want a smartwatch that combines everyday convenience with advanced wellness tracking.
Other expected hardware features include GPS for outdoor workouts and navigation, NFC for contactless payments, and UWB support for improved device connectivity and location-based functions. An LTE version is also expected to be available as an optional upgrade for users who want mobile connectivity without needing to keep their phone nearby.
While the Pixel Watch 5 may not deliver a dramatic battery life improvement, it looks set to refine Google’s smartwatch formula with stronger AI integration, more memory, increased storage, and a full suite of health sensors. With the official launch expected by August 12, more details should be confirmed soon, including pricing, availability, color options, and whether the new Gemini features will be enough to make the Pixel Watch 5 a compelling upgrade.
