GlobalFoundries Unveils Bold €1.1 Billion Expansion Plan for Dresden Chip Facility

GlobalFoundries, a prominent US-based chipmaker, is gearing up for a substantial expansion of its wafer fabrication facility in Dresden, Germany. This facility holds the distinction of being the largest of its kind in Europe. According to reports from Handelsblatt, German media outlets reveal that GlobalFoundries plans to invest approximately EUR 1.1 billion (around US$1.26 billion) over the coming years. This significant investment aims to nearly double the production capacity of the Dresden plant, reinforcing its position as a key player in the semiconductor industry.
