Ghost of Yotei’s Massive Free March DLC Is Coming—and It’s a Game-Changer

Sucker Punch Studios is expanding Ghost of Yotei with a major free update, adding a full online co-op experience for PS5 players. Revealed during the latest State of Play, the new DLC is called Ghost of Yotei Legends and launches March 10 as part of patch 1.5, available at no extra cost to everyone who owns the game.

Legends is built entirely around teamwork. Instead of competitive PvP fights, the mode focuses on co-op missions where you and your friends face supernatural threats inspired by the Yotei Six. The idea is simple: coordinate your roles, combine abilities, and survive increasingly dangerous encounters designed to reward smart group play.

At launch, Ghost of Yotei Legends brings three key ways to play, each offering a different kind of co-op challenge.

First up is Survival, a wave-based mode for up to four players. You’ll battle through enemy assaults across four maps, working together to gain and maintain control of the battlefield. Holding the map lets your team activate a Blessing that gives you a combat advantage, but if your group loses control, the game flips the pressure back onto you by triggering a Curse that makes the fight more punishing.

Next is Story, a two-player focused experience featuring 12 missions. Progression is structured so that every three Story missions unlock an Incursion. Incursions are larger four-player assaults on strongholds connected to members of the Yotei Six, culminating in boss fights against supernatural versions of Spider, Oni, Kitsune, or Snake. These battles are designed as coordinated showdowns where survival hinges on timing, positioning, and support between teammates.

A third mode, Raid, is scheduled to arrive later in April. Raid will push co-op challenge even further by letting players take on the remaining two members of the Yotei Six: Dragon and Lord Saito, offering another reason to jump back in after the March release.

To keep co-op gameplay flexible, Legends also introduces four playable classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. Each class can use core gear like katanas and ranged weapons, but they’re built around distinct playstyles. The Samurai emphasizes heavy-hitting options such as the ōdachi and has the broadest weapon variety. The Archer can wield a spear and carry extra ranged tools for players who prefer precision and consistent pressure. The Mercenary leans into dual katanas and utility-focused skills for aggressive, adaptable combat, while the Shinobi is tailored for stealth-driven tactics and uses the kusarigama for fast, skillful engagements.

With a free release date locked in for March 10 and more content coming in April, Ghost of Yotei Legends looks set to give PS5 players a new reason to return—this time with friends, tougher enemies, and co-op missions built around strategy and survival.
