GameSir Pocket Taco gets a fresh Voltage Purple color for vertical mobile gaming
GameSir has introduced a new color option for its Pocket Taco mobile controller, giving smartphone gamers another stylish way to play in vertical handheld mode. The latest version, called Voltage Purple, brings a translucent purple design inspired by classic retro gaming hardware.
The GameSir Pocket Taco first launched earlier this year as a compact Bluetooth controller made specifically for smartphones. Unlike many mobile controllers that hold a phone horizontally, the Pocket Taco is designed for vertical play. Once attached, it turns a smartphone into a portrait-style handheld gaming device, making it especially appealing for mobile games, emulators, cloud gaming, and titles that feel better in a vertical layout.
At launch, the controller was available in a retro gray finish. GameSir also offered a limited Atomic Purple version through crowdfunding, but that color was not widely available. The new Voltage Purple model now gives more buyers the chance to pick up a translucent version without relying on a limited release.
The Voltage Purple edition features a see-through shell with mostly black buttons, while the Start and Select buttons stand out with their own matching accent. The look is slightly different from the earlier Atomic Purple model, which used purple buttons throughout. The result is a cleaner contrast that gives the controller a modern retro feel.
Despite the new color, the features remain the same across all versions of the GameSir Pocket Taco. The controller connects over Bluetooth and includes a 600mAh battery designed to support hours of gameplay on a single charge. It also includes a cushioned membrane D-pad, ABXY face buttons, in-line triggers, bumpers, and silicone pads to help protect the phone while it is mounted.
Another useful feature is keyboard mode, which can improve compatibility with certain games and apps. Players can also remap buttons through the GameSir app, giving them more control over their preferred layout. The controller automatically powers on when opened and turns off when closed, helping conserve battery life between gaming sessions.
GameSir has also included a bottom opening that allows a charging cable to pass through, so users can keep their phone powered while playing. This is a practical touch for longer sessions, especially when using cloud gaming services or more demanding mobile games.
The Pocket Taco package includes the controller, a travel case, a charging cable, and a lanyard, making it easy to carry around for gaming on the go.
The GameSir Pocket Taco Voltage Purple is available for $34.99, while the original retro gray version is currently listed at a lower sale price of $29.99 through GameSir’s store. Both models offer the same hardware and gaming features, so the choice mainly comes down to color preference.
With its vertical design, compact body, Bluetooth connectivity, and retro-inspired look, the GameSir Pocket Taco continues to stand out from typical smartphone controllers. The new Voltage Purple finish adds more personality to an already unique mobile gaming accessory.
