Samsung has unveiled the eagerly awaited One UI 8.0 Beta update for its 2024 foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. This update, built on Android 16, introduces exciting features such as an enhanced DeX experience and improvements to the Secure Folder, among others.
Following the delayed release of One UI 7, Samsung is determined to roll out the Android 16-based One UI 8 more swiftly. The expansion of the beta program now includes the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, aligning with earlier updates for the Galaxy S24 series. More devices are anticipated to join the lineup in the coming weeks.
Currently active in South Korea, the beta is expected to reach other regions, including the UK, USA, and India, shortly. This update promises several enhancements and refinements to elevate the user experience.
The One UI 8 beta delivers key changes to both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, featuring a refreshed user interface and enhanced core software capabilities. Notably, Samsung has integrated the Secure Folder more closely with Android’s native Private Space feature. Likewise, Samsung DeX now leverages Android 16’s built-in Desktop Mode.
Additional standout updates include a revamped user experience for Quick Share and optimized management of alarms, calendars, and reminders. The Z Flip 6 is set to benefit from exclusive features like a 90:10 split-screen option for improved multitasking, along with an updated Samsung Internet browser.
Owners of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Z Flip 6 interested in exploring the beta can register through the Samsung Members app. As this is a beta release, users should be prepared for potential bugs and stability issues.
