Galaxy S26 Pro leak points to underwhelming cameras and spills key details on Samsung’s S25 successor

Samsung’s next entry-level flagship may not be the camera upgrade fans were hoping for. Fresh code references in the latest One UI 8.5 build point to the Galaxy S26 Pro launching as the most affordable model in the S26 series, likely at the next Galaxy Unpacked, and serving as a direct successor to the standard Galaxy S25. The surprise is how familiar its camera hardware looks.

According to the leak, the main camera remains the 50 MP ISOCELL GN3 with a 1/1.56-inch sensor—the same core hardware Samsung has used since the Galaxy S22 line. The telephoto camera is tipped as a 10 MP S5K3K1 under a zoom lens, another unit first seen on the S22 and S22+. Ultra-wide duties are said to be handled by a 12 MP IMX564, continuing a trend from the S23 era, while the selfie camera is expected to be the S5K3LU. Put simply, every camera on the S26 Pro appears to trace back several generations.

There is at least one meaningful upgrade on the table: battery capacity. The Galaxy S26 Pro is rumored to step up to a 4,300 mAh cell, a welcome boost over the S25’s 4,000 mAh pack, though it still trails some compact rivals that now push past 6,000 mAh. Under the hood, the S26 Pro is expected to ship with the Exynos 2600 in most regions outside North America.

If these specs hold, Samsung seems to be betting on refined image processing and next-gen ISP gains rather than new camera sensors for its most affordable S26 model. That could still yield better photos and videos than the outgoing S25, but hardware enthusiasts may need to look higher up the lineup for a true camera leap.
