Next year’s Galaxy S25 series might exclusively feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors, foregoing Samsung’s Exynos chip altogether. This development comes from a South Korean media outlet and mirrors information shared on a professional forum similar to Reddit. Interestingly, the Exynos 2500, which was initially slated for the S25, might make its debut in the 2025 Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 models instead.
The news, in line with industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s earlier predictions, suggests that Samsung has not completely abandoned its in-house chips despite this shift. While the 3 nm Exynos AP was mentioned in Samsung’s recent financial reports, it appears the performance and yield issues with Samsung’s 3GAP process have led to its delay or exclusion from the S25 series.
Over the past year, there has been significant anticipation surrounding the Exynos 2500. Internally referred to as the “Dream Chip,” it was hyped as Samsung’s major turnaround in the mobile AP market after previous iterations like the Exynos 990 and Exynos 2200 fell short of expectations. This complete redesign aimed to re-establish Samsung’s prowess in this competitive field.
While some may welcome the decision to rely solely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, the uncertainty about the Exynos 2500’s eventual debut remains. This move suggests that Samsung is prioritizing proven performance and reliability for the S25 series, a strategy likely to appeal to many users.
