Galaxy Phones in the US Now Feature Native Call Recording with One UI 7

Samsung has just launched its One UI 7 public beta program, giving select Galaxy smartphone users the chance to explore the latest features ahead of their official debut. Among the fresh upgrades and visually appealing UI redesigns, there’s one standout addition for users in the US: a native call recording feature.

Historically, Samsung included native call recording capabilities in its phones across most regions, but the US was an outlier due to the complex legal landscape surrounding call recording, which varies by state. The breakthrough came with the One UI 7 beta, specifically on the Galaxy S24 series, where this feature has been introduced to the US market.

The native call recorder is integrated directly within the default Phone app. However, users need to activate it each time they intend to record a conversation. It’s important to note that once the recording begins, the call participants will hear a notification stating, “This call is being recorded”—a requirement in several countries to ensure legal compliance. As of now, there’s no option to set calls to record automatically, but considering that international versions of Galaxy phones already offer this, it could be a future update for US devices.

Another exciting feature in the One UI 7 beta is an AI-driven call transcription capability. This innovative tool can automatically transcribe recorded calls into text, supporting 20 different languages, such as German, Spanish, French, Russian, and Japanese.

While these features are currently accessible on the Galaxy S24 series, they are set to become available on an expanded range of Galaxy devices as One UI 7 continues to roll out in the upcoming months. These enhancements promise to deliver a richer and more versatile experience for Samsung users eager for cutting-edge functionality.
