The arena of Star Wars: Hunters, despite the force it initially promised, is preparing to power down. Zynga, in collaboration with co-developers NaturalMotion Games and BossAlien, has declared that their dynamic, free-to-play third-person arena combat game will soon fade into galactic history. Just a little over a year since it captivated fans with its thrilling release, the game is set to end its interstellar journey on October 1, 2025.
While an official explanation for the sudden decision wasn’t detailed, it’s speculated that the lack of a consistent player base may be the driving reason, as many live service games find it challenging to sustain active communities over time.
The calendar for the game’s remaining days has been laid out:
– March 25, 2025: Season 5 will be given an extra life of three weeks. Previous events and shop bundles from the season will make a comeback. Ranked Season will also stretch its timeline, offering players more chances to reach the coveted Kyber 1 rank.
– April 15, 2025: A farewell gift awaits as the final content update rolls out at no cost. In-game purchases will cease, and a new ally, Support Hunter Tuya, will join the battlefield, open to all players. The update will also feature new, exciting in-game content. The final rounds of Ranked Mode leaderboard competition will continue, with all battlefields and game modes available on a rotating basis.
– October 1, 2025: The curtain will officially close as the online servers go dark, rendering Star Wars: Hunters unplayable.
Initially unleashed onto the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android platforms in June 2024, and later expanding to PC, Star Wars: Hunters sought to deliver an exhilarating multiplayer experience. Despite its short-lived endeavor, the game remains a testament to high-stakes battle and strategic combat in the Star Wars universe. As it nears its final battle, players are encouraged to engage one last time with the vibrant galaxy before the servers join the history of the stars.
