Enshrouded 1.0 Release Date Confirmed for PC and PS5, Xbox Version Delayed to 2027
Keen Games has officially confirmed that Enshrouded will leave Steam Early Access on October 15, 2026. The full 1.0 launch will arrive on PC and PlayStation 5 on the same day, marking a major milestone for the popular co-op survival action RPG.
PlayStation 5 players will be able to jump into the complete version at launch, with support for PS5 Pro also included. However, Xbox Series X|S players will need to wait a little longer, as the Xbox version has been delayed until spring 2027.
Enshrouded first entered Early Access on January 24, 2024, and has grown significantly since then. Over nearly three years of development, Keen Games has delivered eight major content updates that expanded the world, refined gameplay systems, and added a wide range of new features. These updates introduced new biomes, a reworked combat system, fishing, transmog options, a dynamic water system, new enemies, additional weapons, armor sets, and more decorative building items.
The game has already become a standout title in the survival RPG genre. It has sold more than five million copies and earned strong player approval on Steam, with an 85 percent positive rating from over 100,000 reviews. For players who have spent dozens or even hundreds of hours building, exploring, and surviving in Embervale, there is good news: existing save files are expected to carry over into the 1.0 release.
Enshrouded takes place in Embervale, a voxel-based fantasy world consumed by a deadly fog known as the Shroud. Players step into the role of the Flameborn, one of the last hopes for a dying civilization. The game blends survival mechanics, base building, exploration, crafting, RPG progression, and co-op combat into a large-scale adventure designed for solo players and groups alike.
One of the biggest draws of Enshrouded is its building system. Players can reshape terrain, construct detailed bases, restore ruins, and create elaborate settlements across the world. The 1.0 update is expected to take player creativity even further by expanding the Adventure Sharing feature, which allows users to upload bases for others to visit.
With the full release, Keen Games plans to add traps, spawners, and logic elements to Adventure Sharing. These tools should give players the ability to create custom dungeons, challenge maps, and more complex community-built experiences. For a game already praised for its flexible voxel construction, this could become one of Enshrouded’s most exciting long-term features.
On PC, Enshrouded currently supports up to 16 players in a single world, making it well-suited for co-op groups that want to explore, build, and battle together. Keen Games has not yet confirmed whether crossplay will be available between PC and PlayStation 5. Dedicated servers are currently available on PC, but it remains unclear whether PS5 players will be able to access them at launch.
The delay of the Xbox Series X|S version comes down to performance and quality goals. Keen Games CEO Jan Jöckel explained that the studio originally wanted to release Enshrouded across all platforms at the same time. However, the Xbox edition needs additional development time to meet the studio’s standards.
The technical demands of Enshrouded are significant. Its large-scale voxel building, fully terraformable environments, and multiplayer systems create challenges that require careful optimization on each platform. While the Xbox version is still in development, Keen Games says progress is continuing steadily.
The October 15, 2026 launch will be a major moment for Enshrouded. After years of Early Access updates and community feedback, the game is preparing to deliver its full vision on PC and PS5. With its mix of survival gameplay, fantasy RPG progression, deep crafting, co-op exploration, and ambitious building tools, Enshrouded 1.0 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated survival game launches of 2026.
