Eclipse: The Awakening Rises September 10

Eclipse: The Awakening Set for September 10 Launch in South Korea With PC and Mobile Cross-Play

Smilegate has confirmed that Eclipse: The Awakening, the upcoming cross-platform MMORPG from NPIXEL, will officially launch in South Korea on September 10, 2026. The game will be available on iOS, Android, and PC, with full cross-play support allowing players to continue their adventure across multiple devices using a single account.

Global release plans have not yet been announced, but the game is already drawing strong attention in South Korea. Character pre-creation across 24 server groups reportedly filled in about 25 minutes, while pre-registrations have surpassed one million players.

Built with Unreal Engine 5, Eclipse: The Awakening aims to offer a visually rich fantasy experience while rethinking some of the time-heavy systems commonly associated with MMORPGs. Smilegate describes the game as an “MMOLite,” designed to keep the depth, character progression, and social systems of a traditional online RPG while reducing the pressure of daily grinding.

A new fantasy world built around gods, truth, and shadow

Rather than adapting a familiar legend or existing mythology, Eclipse: The Awakening introduces an original fantasy universe centered on two connected worlds: Ederion and Orthea.

The story follows Seraha, a priestess of the Order living in Ederion, a world believed to be whole, peaceful, and protected by divine blessing. But when Seraha begins questioning the truth behind that peace, her life is shattered. Her journey leads her into Orthea, a shadow world that exists alongside Ederion and holds secrets that challenge everything she once believed.

The development team has said the game’s mythology was created around one major question: why do gods exist? That premise gives Eclipse: The Awakening a more mysterious and philosophical tone than many fantasy MMORPGs, blending divine power, hidden worlds, and personal loss into its central narrative.

Four launch classes with flexible combat roles

At launch, Eclipse: The Awakening will feature four playable classes: Fighter, Ranger, Sorceress, and Assassin.

Each class supports two different weapon types, allowing players to shift their combat role depending on the weapon they equip. This system is designed to give each class more flexibility in battle, encouraging players to experiment with different playstyles instead of being locked into a single role.

The Fighter is expected to focus on close-range strength and durability, while the Ranger offers ranged precision. The Sorceress brings magical damage and battlefield control, and the Assassin emphasizes speed, burst damage, and mobility.

Sanctuary system reduces the pressure of daily grinding

One of the most notable features in Eclipse: The Awakening is Sanctuary, an offline progression hub created to help players keep advancing even when they are not actively playing.

Through Sanctuary, characters can continue earning gold, experience, and summoning materials while players are away. The game also includes a 24-hour AI mode that allows characters to keep hunting and gathering without constant manual input.

This feature is central to the game’s MMOLite identity. Instead of demanding long daily play sessions, Eclipse: The Awakening appears to be designed for players who want meaningful MMORPG progression without feeling tied to nonstop routine tasks.

Authority and Skill Fusion add depth to combat

Combat in Eclipse: The Awakening is built around several progression and customization systems. One of the key mechanics is Authority, which is formed by combining six Stigmata and three Relics. This unlocks situational skills that can be used depending on the needs of a battle.

The game also includes a Skill Fusion system, allowing two abilities to be merged into a new combined effect. This gives players more ways to customize their combat approach and create skill combinations that match their preferred playstyle.

Together, Authority and Skill Fusion are intended to add strategic depth beyond standard class abilities, giving players more control over how their characters perform in solo play, group content, and large-scale encounters.

Optional PvP and guild-focused endgame content

Eclipse: The Awakening will include PvP, but participation will be optional rather than forced. This may appeal to players who enjoy MMORPG progression and cooperative content but prefer not to be pushed into competitive battles.

Guilds will play a major role in the game’s long-term content. Smilegate has confirmed cooperative guild growth systems, competitive boss encounters, the High River Battlefield, and inter-server activities. While a specific guild-versus-guild format has not been fully detailed yet, guild-based competition and cooperation appear to be important parts of the endgame structure.

With cross-platform support across PC and mobile, guild members should be able to stay connected more easily, whether they are playing at home or on the go.

Strong early interest ahead of launch

Eclipse: The Awakening is already showing strong momentum before release. More than one million players have pre-registered, and the rapid server demand during character pre-creation suggests major interest from the Korean MMORPG audience.

Pre-registration rewards are being distributed through Google Play, the App Store, and Smilegate’s STOVE platform.

Executive producer Lee Sang-moon has said the studio hopes to “establish a new standard for MMORPGs” with Eclipse: The Awakening. With Unreal Engine 5 visuals, cross-platform play, offline progression, flexible classes, optional PvP, and a focus on reducing daily grind fatigue, the game is positioning itself as a modern MMORPG built for both dedicated players and those with limited time.

Eclipse: The Awakening launches in South Korea on September 10, 2026, for PC, iOS, and Android. Details about a global release have not yet been announced.
