DJI Mic Mini 2S Launches With 32-Bit Float Recording and Four-Transmitter Support
DJI has introduced the Mic Mini 2S in China, bringing a more advanced wireless microphone option for creators who need professional audio features in a compact setup. While the earlier Mic Mini 2 was aimed largely at vloggers and everyday content creators, the new Mic Mini 2S is clearly designed for users who need stronger backup recording, more flexible audio control, and support for more complex filming environments.
One of the biggest upgrades is built directly into the transmitter. DJI has added 14.5GB of internal storage, allowing the Mic Mini 2S to record up to 28 hours of audio directly on the device. This is especially useful for filmmakers, interviewers, livestreamers, and solo creators who want a reliable backup in case wireless audio transmission is interrupted.
The internal recording system also supports 32-bit floating-point audio, a major improvement over standard 24-bit recording. This format captures a much wider dynamic range, helping prevent distortion when sounds suddenly become loud while still preserving detail in quieter moments. For creators recording unpredictable environments, such as live events, outdoor shoots, weddings, or street interviews, 32-bit float recording can make a big difference.
Despite the added storage and processing power, the Mic Mini 2S transmitter remains lightweight. It weighs just 12g, only 1g heavier than the Mic Mini 2. That makes it easy to clip onto clothing without feeling bulky, which is important for creators who need discreet, comfortable audio gear during long shoots.
Another key improvement is the upgraded receiver. While the standard Mic Mini 2 supports regular dual-channel recording, the Mic Mini 2S receiver can connect to up to four transmitters at once. This opens the door for quad-track output, giving editors separate audio tracks for each speaker or sound source.
That feature can save a lot of time in post-production. It is particularly useful for podcasts, group interviews, panel discussions, documentaries, roundtable videos, and multi-person content where individual audio control is important. Instead of dealing with a single mixed track, creators can adjust each person’s audio separately for a cleaner final result.
DJI has also kept the Mic Mini 2S compatible with its broader camera and creator ecosystem. The microphone system supports native integration with devices such as DJI’s compact cameras and action cameras, making it easier for existing DJI users to add high-quality wireless audio to their setup. It also supports direct Bluetooth pairing with smartphones, giving mobile creators a simple way to improve audio without needing extra accessories.
Wireless range is another strong point. The Mic Mini 2S offers up to 400 meters of line-of-sight transmission, making it suitable for outdoor filming, moving shots, event coverage, and wide-angle setups where the subject may be far from the camera.
Battery life is slightly lower than the previous model due to the added internal recording and processing features. The Mic Mini 2S transmitter can run for up to 11 hours on its own, while the receiver offers up to 10 hours of use. With the charging case, total usage time reaches up to 40 hours. That is less than the 48-hour total battery life offered by the standard Mic Mini 2, but the trade-off brings more advanced recording and multi-transmitter capabilities.
To improve sound quality in different environments, DJI has included a two-stage active noise reduction system. The weaker mode is designed for indoor use, helping reduce room reflections, fan noise, and air-conditioning hum. The stronger mode is built for outdoor conditions, where it can help cut down traffic noise, wind interference, and other background distractions.
At launch, the DJI Mic Mini 2S is available only in China. The full kit with the charging case is priced at 1,199 CNY, which is roughly $165. A standard one-to-one package costs 629 CNY, or about $93. Individual transmitters are also available separately for 399 CNY, around $59.
A wider global release is expected, although DJI has not yet confirmed international pricing or availability. If it launches worldwide, the Mic Mini 2S could become an appealing option for creators who want a lightweight wireless microphone system with 32-bit float recording, internal backup storage, long wireless range, and support for up to four transmitters.
