Dive Into Serial World: Play the New Demo for Japan’s Hybrid Dungeon-Crawler RPG

Kakehashi Games and indie developer Serial Project have launched a playable demo for Serial World, a roguelike dungeon crawler hybrid RPG that blends turn-based battles with deckbuilding strategy.

The Serial World demo is available now on Windows PC through Steam as part of Steam Deckbuilder’s Fest, and it will remain playable until May 11. For players who enjoy testing new roguelike deckbuilders, this limited-time demo is a chance to get hands-on with the game’s core loop: exploring randomized dungeons, building a battle deck, and adapting your tactics run by run.

Serial Project is a newly formed studio led by former Level-5 developers Takashi Maeda (programmer) and Sho Kawasaki (artist), bringing experience from classic RPG craftsmanship into a fresh, colorful setting.

Set in a bright, cartoon-inspired world that nods to nostalgic RPG favorites, Serial World follows a young hero named Milo as he looks into a string of mysterious disappearances in his hometown of Bricktown. In the demo, players dive into a randomized dungeon with a starter trio of Anima companions: Porcupint, Tanibo, and Reptibud. Each creature comes with its own personality and unique skillset, encouraging experimentation and different team approaches as you learn how their abilities fit together.

Combat centers on satisfying turn-based encounters where your deck choices shape every fight. You’ll mix and match tactics, battle through enemies, and push toward the exit while chasing clues tied to the mystery at the heart of Bricktown. With its approachable tone and strategic depth, Serial World aims to deliver a roguelike deckbuilding RPG adventure designed for a wide range of players.
