The company is developing Direct-to-Cell (D2C) technology, an approach designed to let mobile phones connect more directly to satellites for communication when traditional cellular networks aren’t available.
According to comments attributed to a company vice president, Compal has already started integrating communication modules into satellites, a key milestone that moves D2C from concept to real-world deployment. Just as important, the company is currently in discussions with multiple international satellite operators, signaling that partnerships are forming to support wider coverage and potential commercial rollouts.
Direct-to-Cell satellite connectivity is drawing growing attention across the telecom and mobile industries because it could help close coverage gaps in rural areas, at sea, and in disaster zones where ground-based infrastructure can fail.
