The highly anticipated Dragon Ball Daima has just released a new trailer, giving fans an exciting glimpse at what is to come in this latest installment of the beloved series. The trailer reveals that, despite the chibi-fied appearance of the characters, they have retained their powers from previous arcs, with Goku even showcasing his ability to go Super Saiyan.
Since its announcement last fall, Dragon Ball Daima hinted that the cast, now in their adorable chibi forms, had lost most of their formidable powers. However, this new trailer confirms that these pint-sized warriors still pack a punch. Fans can rejoice as they witness Goku, alongside Vegeta, Piccolo, and other favorite characters, fully access their iconic abilities, including the electrifying transformation into Super Saiyan.
Set against the intriguing backdrop of the Demon Realm, the trailer features our heroes encountering new beings and engaging in intense battles. Classic energy blasts and hand-to-hand combat are on full display, climaxing in Goku’s mighty Super Saiyan transformation. Earlier teasers suggested that the chibi forms might limit the characters’ powers, as Goku had been seen resorting to his Power Pole—a tool reminiscent of his early adventures, possibly indicating a power downgrade. Yet, the latest footage reassures fans that the high-stakes, action-packed combat they know and love is still very much a part of Dragon Ball Daima.
While the reasons behind the characters’ chibi transformation and the extent of their power limitations remain shrouded in mystery, one thing is clear: the spirit of Dragon Ball’s intense battles and captivating characters is alive and well.
Dragon Ball Daima is helmed by Yoshitaka Yashima with Aya Komaki taking on the role of series director for Toei Animation. The series composition and scenario are crafted by Yuko Kakihara, while Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru lends his expertise to the animation character designs.
This marks a poignant chapter for Dragon Ball fans as it’s the final project that the series’ legendary creator, Akira Toriyama, worked on before his passing. Toriyama provided the original story and character designs, ensuring that his vision continues to shape the Dragon Ball universe.
The world premiere is set to take place at Tokyo Big Sight on October 6th during the Dragon Ball Daimatsuri event, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original manga. Attendees of the event will enjoy three screenings of the first episode, with cast members present at the initial two showings.
Dragon Ball Daima is scheduled to make its television debut in Japan on Fuji TV on October 11th, with an international release planned for later in October. Fans both in Japan and around the world are eagerly counting down the days until they can dive back into the adventures of Goku and his friends.
