Casio F-B100W-1A Sells Out in the UK as Demand Surges for the Step-Tracking Digital Watch
Casio’s new F-B100W series is already proving to be a strong hit among fans of affordable digital watches. The black Casio F-B100W-1A has sold out on Casio’s UK store less than a week after becoming available, leaving the teal F-B100W-3A as the only option currently listed at £55.
The fast sell-out follows a similar pattern seen in Japan, where the F-B100W lineup launched on August 7 for ¥8,800 and reportedly disappeared from Casio’s official store on the same day. In the UK, both models were first marked as “coming soon” before sales opened on August 17. Now, the black version is no longer available through Casio’s own online store.
Casio has not confirmed when, or if, the black F-B100W-1A will be restocked. It is also worth noting that the sell-out only applies to Casio’s official UK store, so availability may differ through other retailers. A third model, the F-B100W-1B with a negative display, has not appeared on the UK store so far.
The Casio F-B100W price is one of the most talked-about parts of the launch. At £55 in the UK, it costs noticeably more than the classic Casio F-91W, which typically sells for around £20. In Japan, the ¥8,800 launch price converts to roughly $55, while the UK price works out closer to $74. Even after accounting for local taxes, the UK version remains more expensive than its Japanese counterpart.
So, what does the higher price bring? The biggest upgrade is the addition of a motion sensor. The Casio F-B100W can track up to 999,999 steps and show progress toward a daily step goal using a six-level graph. Users can set targets between 1,000 and 50,000 steps, making it a simple but practical choice for anyone who wants basic activity tracking without wearing a full smartwatch.
The watch can also alert the wearer after long periods of inactivity, encouraging more movement throughout the day. This gives the F-B100W a fitness-focused edge while still keeping the familiar lightweight digital watch style that Casio is known for.
Bluetooth support is another major feature. When paired with the Casio Watches app, the F-B100W can automatically adjust the time, access world time for around 300 cities, and log activity data. These features make it more capable than a standard retro digital watch, while still avoiding the complexity and battery demands of modern smartwatches.
In terms of size, the F-B100W stays close to the proportions of the legendary F-91W. It measures 41.9 x 38.1 x 8.8 mm and weighs just 26 grams, making it slim, light, and easy to wear all day. It also includes familiar Casio essentials such as an LED backlight, stopwatch, countdown timer, and five daily alarms.
Battery life is rated at around two years using a CR2016 cell. That is shorter than the seven-year battery life often associated with the F-91W, but the trade-off comes from the added step-tracking sensor and Bluetooth functionality.
The Casio F-B100W series appears to be aimed at buyers who want the look and simplicity of a classic Casio digital watch with just enough modern health and connectivity features. It is not a full smartwatch, and that may be part of its appeal. There is no large touchscreen, no daily charging, and no complicated interface. Instead, it offers step tracking, activity reminders, world time, and automatic time syncing in a compact, retro-inspired package.
With the black Casio F-B100W-1A already sold out in the UK and Japan’s launch stock disappearing almost immediately, demand for this affordable Bluetooth step-tracking watch looks strong. For now, UK buyers interested in the series still have the teal F-B100W-3A available at £55, though its continued availability may depend on how long stock lasts.
