Casio Watches App Services Temporarily Suspended After Critical PHP Security Issue
Casio has temporarily suspended some functions and services in its Casio Watches smartphone app after identifying a critical security issue involving PHP, a widely used programming language that powers many web services around the world.
The Japanese watchmaker announced the precautionary action on October 22, confirming that the suspension began on October 21, 2026, Japan Standard Time. According to Casio, certain parts of the Casio Watches service rely on PHP, and the affected functions were taken offline to help protect customer information while the issue is being addressed.
Casio has stressed that there is currently no confirmed evidence of unauthorized access to its service. The company also says it has not confirmed any leak of customer information.
The issue is not described as a Casio-specific vulnerability. Instead, the company says it is related to technology used broadly across web services worldwide, which prompted the temporary shutdown of some app-based services as a safety measure.
What the suspension means for Casio watch users
The Casio Watches app is used by owners of supported Bluetooth-enabled Casio watches to connect their watch to a smartphone. Depending on the model, the app can be used to synchronize the time, adjust watch settings, manage connected features, and access model-specific functions.
At this stage, Casio has not provided a detailed list of which app functions or services have been disabled. That means users may experience different levels of disruption depending on their watch model and the features they normally use.
The company’s announcement does not state that all connected-watch features are unavailable. Some functions may continue to work, while others may be limited until Casio completes its security checks and restoration work.
When will Casio Watches app services be restored?
Casio has not announced a specific date for the return of the suspended services. The company says it is working to restore the affected functions as quickly as possible, but as of October 25, 2026, no confirmed restoration schedule has been published.
For now, Casio watch owners who rely on the app may need to wait for further updates from the company. Users should also be aware that some app features may remain unavailable until Casio finishes its security response.
Casio has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension and says the action was taken to help safeguard customer data.
