“Blue Protocol” has announced the closure of its Japanese servers along with the cancellation of all plans for a global release. The MMORPG from Bandai Namco is scheduled to cease operations in January 2025. The anticipated global rollout, which was to be in collaboration with Amazon Games, has also been scrapped.
In their official statement, Bandai Namco Online expressed regret over the decision, stating, “We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocol, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world.” The company acknowledged the enthusiasm of fans who followed the game’s development and participated in the Closed Technical Test.
Leading up to what would have been the global release, Blue Protocol faced several development challenges, particularly concerning censorship issues. The Western release was to be modified, lacking certain features like the “jiggle physics” button in character creation and the “S body type,” which allowed the creation of loli characters.
Originally, Blue Protocol was set to launch in the West in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows through Steam. Unfortunately, this plan will no longer come to fruition. Bandai Namco expressed profound appreciation for the passionate fanbase and wished success to their development team in future projects.
