Apple Poised to Rebrand HomeKit with a Streamlined Touch

In an intriguing development, Apple appears to be inching away from the familiar “HomeKit” name. Recent observations from a tvOS beta for Apple TV reveal that “HomeKit” has been replaced with “Apple Home” in several instances. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, these changes suggest a possible shift away from the HomeKit branding.

Apple’s HomeKit has long been the term used to describe its smart home platform, enabling users to connect and manage various devices seamlessly. In the latest developer beta of tvOS 26, references to HomeKit in the Apple TV Settings app have been updated to Apple Home. For instance, the “AirPlay and HomeKit” menu is now labeled as “AirPlay and Apple Home.” Additionally, error messages have been modified to align with this new naming convention, as highlighted in a recent report.

Traditionally, “Apple Home” has represented the brand’s smart home app and the broader ecosystem. Whether these changes are mere clarifications or indicate a significant rebranding effort remains uncertain. However, it seems likely that Apple is leaning toward retiring the HomeKit term.

The anticipated rollout of tvOS 26 is expected this fall and will be available on devices like the Apple TV 4K Wi-Fi (3rd Generation). This update could mark a new chapter in Apple’s approach to its smart home technology.
