Antec Core Micro: Unveiling the Next Level of Rebranded Gaming Handhelds

Antec has ventured into the gaming handheld arena with the launch of its Core HS, a fresh take on the Ayaneo Slide. Building on this momentum, the company has unveiled the Core Micro, another rebrand of an Ayaneo innovation, specifically known as the Pocket Micro. While the name has shifted, the Core Micro’s core remains unchanged from its Ayaneo counterpart. This device is designed more for gaming emulation on Android than to compete with heavyweights like the Asus ROG Ally or Legion Go.

Inside this nimble gaming handheld, you’ll find the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, comparable to devices like the KT-R1. Ayaneo boasts that the chip can handle emulation up to the PlayStation 2 era. Thanks to its active cooling system, the G99 delivers steady performance, even amid intense gaming sessions.

Accompanying this SoC are 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The device also features an SD card slot to boost storage capacity as needed. A 2,600 mAh battery fuels the handheld, promising up to six hours of uninterrupted gaming. The 3.5-inch IPS display offers a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and full sRGB color coverage.

This sleek gadget boasts additional features such as WiFi 5 connectivity, the latest Android 13 operating system, Hall effect joysticks, and a body crafted from CNC aluminum. Although Antec has yet to announce pricing details, the Ayaneo Pocket Micro, with similar specs, is currently priced at $249.

This entry into the handheld gaming market underscores Antec’s commitment to expanding its reach and offering gamers a uniquely branded experience anchored in proven technology.
