HoYoverse’s Petit Planet is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, setting the stage for a major new life-simulation game that could appeal strongly to fans of Animal Crossing. The game is scheduled to launch first on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, 2026, before making its way to Nintendo’s next-generation console sometime the following year.
Petit Planet is designed around cozy planet-building, social interaction, farming, fishing, crafting, and exploration. Players will get their own small planet to develop and personalize, turning it into a lively home filled with crops, decorations, furniture, and friendly neighbors. The game’s relaxed tone and focus on daily life make it one of HoYoverse’s most interesting departures from its action-heavy titles.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is especially notable because the platform is expected to be a natural home for cozy simulation games. With Animal Crossing remaining one of Nintendo’s most successful life-sim franchises, Petit Planet will be entering a competitive space. However, HoYoverse appears to be adding its own twist by giving players an entire planet to shape rather than a traditional village or island.
Customization looks like it will be a major part of the experience. HoYoverse has confirmed that more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items will be unlockable through regular gameplay. This should give players plenty of freedom to express their style, decorate their planet, and create unique spaces without relying only on limited-time rewards or premium items.
Beyond farming and decorating, Petit Planet will also let players form relationships with a cast of colorful neighbors. Social interaction appears to be a key feature, encouraging players to build bonds, discover character stories, and make their tiny world feel more alive. For fans of cozy games, this mix of personal expression and character-driven gameplay could be one of the game’s biggest selling points.
Exploration will not be limited to the player’s home planet. Petit Planet will allow players to travel to nearby islands and visit the Galactic Bazaar, a hub that may offer new activities, items, and ways to interact with the wider game world. This gives the life-sim formula a more cosmic identity, helping it stand apart from other farming and town-building games.
HoYoverse has not yet announced an exact release date for Petit Planet on Nintendo Switch 2. The company says the port is currently in active development and that more gameplay footage and details will be shared later. For now, the Switch 2 version is the only confirmed console release.
The absence of a PlayStation 5 announcement has already caught attention, especially since HoYoverse has brought many of its recent major games to PlayStation platforms. At this stage, there is no confirmation that Petit Planet will come to PS5, Xbox, or any other console. HoYoverse has only confirmed PC, mobile, and Nintendo Switch 2.
With its blend of planet customization, farming, fishing, crafting, cozy social systems, and space-themed exploration, Petit Planet could become one of the most talked-about life simulation games of 2027. If HoYoverse can deliver the charm, depth, and long-term content support players expect, Petit Planet may become a serious new rival in the cozy gaming genre.
