Anbernic Rolls Out a Fresh OTA Update for the RG477M

Anbernic is rolling out a fresh over-the-air update for the RG477M that gives the Android handheld more control, better cooling options, and a smoother overall experience. Firmware version 1.30 brings new fan profiles for high-performance mode, adds motion control support for compatible games, and includes a round of fixes and optimizations to improve stability and app compatibility.

One of the most useful additions is the ability to fine-tune cooling while you’re pushing the device hard. When high-performance mode is enabled, you can now choose between three fan profiles: Auto, Cool, and Strong. Auto manages fan speed for a balance of noise and temperature, Cool prioritizes lower temps for sustained performance, and Strong ramps things up for maximum heat dissipation when you need every bit of power. This gives players more say over thermals, noise levels, and comfort during long sessions.

The update also unlocks motion controls via a new Sensor Rotation switch. This allows the RG477M to use its sensors for tilt and motion input in games that support it, adding another layer of precision for racers, platformers, shooters, and emulators that map gyro controls.

How to enable motion controls on the RG477M:
– Pull down Quick Settings.
– Tap the edit icon (the pen).
– Find the Sensor Rotation tile, long-press it, and drag it into your Quick Settings panel.
– Exit the edit screen, then tap the Sensor Rotation tile to toggle motion controls on or off.

Beyond the headline features, version 1.30 includes general system polish. Expect bug fixes, performance tuning, and improved compatibility with more apps and games, which should translate to fewer hiccups and better responsiveness across the interface.

Updating is simple thanks to the built-in FOTA tool:
– Open the FOTA update app on your RG477M.
– Tap Check version.
– Download the available update.
– When the download finishes, tap the apply button (the circle) and let the device install and restart.

With adjustable fan profiles, motion input, and broader system refinements, this update makes the RG477M a more flexible and capable handheld. If you’re aiming for cooler temps under load, quieter operation, or enhanced control in supported titles, installing version 1.30 is an easy win.
