Amazon and Kobo are giving eReader owners a fresh way to personalize their devices with new limited edition cases, now available for select models. If you like accessories that stand out—and don’t want the same cover everyone else has—these new designs are positioned as a “grab it while it lasts” drop, with no guarantee of a restock once they sell through.
Amazon’s newest limited edition Kindle case is a collaboration with MGM Studios and takes inspiration from the 2026 sci-fi hit Project Hail Mary. The design leans heavily into space adventure: the front artwork features the story’s protagonist alongside a space shuttle, while the back adds streaks of light for a vivid, high-energy look.
Beyond the visuals, Amazon is pitching the case as an everyday practical add-on. It’s described as thin and light, uses a magnetic attachment to keep the cover securely closed, and supports a wake function for quick on-and-off use. There’s also a cutout at the bottom so you can charge your Kindle without removing the case—an important convenience for daily readers. Compatibility includes the Kindle Paperwhite (2024 edition), Kindle Colorsoft, and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. The Project Hail Mary limited edition case is priced at $49.99.
Kobo, meanwhile, is going in a completely different direction with a nature-forward aesthetic. Rakuten’s Kobo brand has introduced two limited edition case designs—Green Canopy and Botanical Bliss—featuring colorful floral and plant patterns. These are available for the Kobo Libra Colour, Kobo Clara Colour, and Kobo Clara BW, giving both color and black-and-white Kobo readers a chance to pick up the same themed look.
Pricing for Kobo’s limited edition cases depends on the model: the Kobo Libra Colour versions are listed at $39.99, while the Kobo Clara Colour and Kobo Clara BW versions are $29.99.
Kobo is also adding a small perk for early buyers. For a limited time, anyone who purchases one of these cases will receive a free copy of the eBook Patio Lanterns. Kobo says the redemption code for the $7.99 eBook will be emailed within 24 hours of the case purchase.
For Kindle and Kobo users who’ve been thinking about upgrading their accessories—or simply want a more eye-catching cover—these limited edition releases offer a new option that blends style with protection, with the added urgency that comes with limited availability.
