Fright Train Release Date Set for September 15 on PC
Indie studio WildArts has confirmed that Fright Train, its upcoming mascot-style survival horror game, will launch for Windows PC on September 15. The game is headed to Steam and promises a strange mix of creepy creature encounters, puzzle-solving, tactical survival, and dark humor aboard a speeding research train in Antarctica.
In Fright Train, players step into the role of Doug Barker, a rookie agent who has just joined P.A.W., also known as Paranormal Agency Worldwide. Doug’s first mission is anything but routine. A distress signal has been sent from the L.R.S. Great White, a mysterious locomotive research station racing across the frozen Antarctic wasteland.
The train is operated by SHARK, a secretive corporation that appears to have unleashed something far more dangerous than anyone expected. With guidance from a navigator back at headquarters, Doug must push deeper into the train, uncover what went wrong, and stop the interdimensional horrors now roaming its corridors.
The catch is simple but terrifying: the train must keep moving. If it stops, Doug risks freezing to death in the brutal Antarctic cold or being overwhelmed by the monsters waiting in the darkness.
Fright Train blends survival horror with exploration and system management. Players will move through the massive high-speed train, solve puzzles, unlock new sections, and fight off frost zombies and other twisted creatures. The locomotive itself is more than just a setting; it is a constant threat. Equipment can deteriorate, systems may fail, and small malfunctions can quickly become deadly problems if ignored.
Keeping the train operational is central to survival. Players will need to monitor machinery, repair damage, access encrypted terminals, and interact with the train’s systems while staying alert for creatures lurking both inside and outside the station. The pressure of maintaining momentum adds an extra layer of tension to the survival horror formula.
The game also features a mid-2000s-inspired visual style, intense gore, and a tone that balances chilling horror with a sense of playful absurdity. WildArts is aiming for a horror experience that feels scary and atmospheric without taking itself too seriously.
Inventory management will play an important role, requiring players to make careful decisions about what to carry and when to use limited resources. Combat is described as tactical, with a volatile enemy ecosystem where different monster behaviors can interact in unexpected ways. Some enemies may support each other, while others could interfere with or sabotage one another, creating unpredictable encounters throughout the train.
With its unusual Antarctic setting, bizarre corporate mystery, and high-speed survival mechanics, Fright Train is shaping up to be a distinctive entry in the indie horror scene. Players looking for a new PC survival horror game with puzzles, resource management, monsters, and a strange sense of humor will be able to board the L.R.S. Great White when Fright Train launches on September 15.
