Although Acer has mainly been focusing on Windows devices today, they have unveiled an exciting addition to their Android lineup: the Iconia X12 tablet. Running on Android 14, the Iconia X12 boasts a 12.6-inch AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution. While its peak brightness is limited to 400 nits and the refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz, the use of an AMOLED screen on a mid-range tablet is a rare and appealing feature.
The Iconia X12 is designed with entertainment in mind, featuring quad speakers that each output 1 W of sound, all packed into a sleek 6.7 mm thick frame and weighing just 600 grams. It’s powered by a substantial 10,000 mAh battery to keep you going throughout the day. The tablet also offers 8 GB of RAM and comes in two storage options: 128 GB and 256 GB, both of which are expandable.
One of the conveniences of the Iconia X12 includes its support for pen input and a detachable keyboard, enhancing its versatility for both work and play. However, it’s worth noting that the tablet comes with a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which, while cost-effective, is over two years old. The Helio G99 features two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz, alongside a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. This makes the Iconia X12 comparable in performance to devices like the Lenovo Tab Plus.
Despite its aging chipset, the Iconia X12 offers a compelling mix of features at a competitive price. Acer plans to launch this versatile Android tablet in January 2025 with a price tag of €369.
