The 2025 Tesla Model Y has once again demonstrated its commitment to safety, earning the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the seventh year in a row. This accolade highlights Tesla’s consistent dedication to ensuring their vehicles are among the safest on the road.
The IIHS, an independent organization revered for its rigorous safety evaluations, praised the Model Y for its outstanding performance in crash tests. These tests assess vehicles on their ability to protect occupants in various scenarios, including frontal, side, rollover, and rear impacts. The Model Y impressed with top marks in both occupant protection and crash avoidance technologies.
Tesla China proudly shared this achievement, with CEO Elon Musk noting, “Model Y rated highest in safety.” This sentiment echoes worldwide as the Model Y garners high safety ratings across various international assessment programs, including the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index, the Australasian New Car Assessment Program, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the European New Car Assessment Programme.
Beyond safety, the Tesla Model Y continues to be a global leader in the electric vehicle market. In 2024, it captured 10.9 percent of all battery electric vehicle sales globally, marking it as the first EV to top worldwide car sales.
This remarkable blend of safety and success underscores Tesla’s influence in the automotive industry, proving that innovation and protection can go hand in hand. As Tesla advances, the Model Y remains a compelling choice for those prioritizing both safety and performance in their vehicle.
