New Feature Alert: WhatsApp Introduces Reminder Support – How It Works

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that is currently exclusive to beta testers, allowing users to set reminders on sent or received messages. This addition lets users choose a specific date and time to be reminded about important messages. Unlike Telegram’s message scheduler, which schedules when a message will be sent, WhatsApp’s “Remind Me” feature focuses on reminding users about existing messages.

For instance, if you receive an event invite or need to revisit a topic, you can easily set up a notification. This feature could become available to all users soon, extending its practicality across a wide user base.

To utilize this feature, simply long-press a message in a chat. When the menu appears, tap the bell icon and choose from preset times like 2, 8, or 24 hours—or customize your own. Once a reminder is set, a small bell icon will appear near the message timestamp. You can set multiple reminders and easily remove them if needed. Importantly, only the person who sets a reminder receives the notification.

This handy feature offers a variety of uses, such as setting reminders for events or personal tasks. Additionally, WhatsApp’s capability to message yourself can be paired with this feature for efficient task management, like bookmarking links you want to revisit later.
